The Metal Gear Solid movie is the only game-to-film adaptation that I have any hope for, and that's because its director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, seems like as big a fan of Metal Gear as there is in Hollywood. In fact, he's such a fan that he made the writers of the film actually sit down and play the ...]

After replaying MGS 1-3 I hopped into MGS 4 for an exciting conclusion but was hit with the worst opening hours of the series so far. Overwritten, lacking tension, and struggling to modernize the series gameplay we would see refined in MGS V

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, and Axel & Pixel are the latest games to receive the Xbox One backward-compatibility treatment.
Peace Walker arrives in the guise of Konami's 2011 high-definition remaster of the 2010 PSP original, and is a great game - so much so that it's inspired but on Eurogamer. It's particularly notable in hindsight, having laid much of the groundwork - with its distinctive mission structure, Mother Base expansion, and gotta-catch-em-all Fulton Extraction - for Kojima's final Metal Gear Solid game, the Phantom Pain.
At the time of its release, Eurogamer's Oli Welsh found much to admire in Peace Walker, , "It's still an acquired taste, but Peace Walker will satisfy fans, embarrass PSP owners with its riches, and ought to inspire curiosity at the very least in everyone else."

Now known as the 'masters of the remaster', Bluepoint Games has a well-earned, solid gold reputation for delivering some of the best current-gen - and indeed last-gen - ports of gaming's most beloved properties. From Metal Gear Solid to God of War, from Gravity Rush to the Uncharted trilogy, Bluepoint's work has been uniformly excellent across the years.
However, with the recently released Shadow of the Colossus remake, the studio has pushed on to a new level. The developer has built upon its existing PS3 remastering efforts with a full-blown remake, reimagining Team Ico's original work with a release that captures and enhances the unique ambience of the PS2 classic, executed to today's triple-A gaming standards.
That said, despite some extensive pre-launch marketing, there's still a lot that we don't know about this game. What engine technologies did Bluepoint draw upon to create this remake? To what extent does original Team Ico codebase factor into the new game? And looking towards Shadow's stunning PlayStation 4 Pro implementation, how does the team manage to make its 40fps 4K mode look so good despite a 1440p base framebuffer? And conversely, looking at the performance mode, how did Bluepoint hit its 60fps target so consistently when so many have failed?
|Metal Gear Survive might be trying to warn us about the series future|
Added: 11.03.2018 1:47 | 5 views | 0 comments
The main question that hangs over Survive is whether it deserves to be called a Metal Gear game.
On one hand, it would be absurd to put anything else on the front of the box; the game lifts so many assets from Metal Gear Solid V that not acknowledging the connection would be disingenuous.
But on the other, Survive doesnt possess the impeccable design and confidence that made the best Metal Gear games so special. Perhaps Survive is aware that it lacks this loftiness and isnt trying to honor the legacy of this 30-year-old series, but that doesnt excuse faults like its overly oppressive mechanics or bland story.
If this truly is the future of Metal Gear, maybe it doesnt need to survive.
